This ballet is inspired by Justin Dello Joio’s Due Per Due: Elegia to an Old Musician and Norman Dello Joio’s Prelude: To a Young Musician. In exploring the relationship between fathers and sons, I have juxtaposed the Prelude and the Elegia, using a style of interpolation (if you will, a collage of music) that I have used to reveal the humanity in the relationships. –jb
