"When two souls, which have sought each other….a union, fiery and pure as they themselves are... begins on earth and continues forever in heaven. This union is true love, ... a religion, which deifies the loved one, whose life comes from devotion and passion, and for which the greatest sacrifices are the sweetest delights." – Victor Hugo to Adèle Foucher

"…should I draw you the picture of my heart? It would be, I hope, what you still Love."

– Abigail Adams to John Adams

"Once I go to bed and I put my head on the pillow my first thought is about you my country. They say to me keep our roots and always be the best..". – a Thai refugee

"With two thousand men sleeping around me, my thoughts are with you and my children. And when my last breath escapes me on the battle field, it will whisper your name. Sarah." – Civil War Major Sullivan, killed in action at the Battle of Bull Run
